Privacy Policy
This privacy policy applies to the Digital Compass App - Offline app for mobile devices, together with any related services operated by SAPPS Interactive (collectively, the "Application"). SAPPS Interactive is hereby referred to as the "Service Provider".
Information Collection and Use
The Application automatically collects information when you download and use it. This information may include:
- Your device's Internet Protocol (IP) address
- The specific pages or screens of the Application that you visit, the time and date of your visit, and the time spent on those pages
- The overall time spent using the Application
- The type of mobile operating system and hardware configuration you use
- Precise geolocation data (latitude and longitude), only when you voluntarily use the Share Location feature. This data is encrypted on your device and embedded in a shareable URL. It is not transmitted to or stored on SAPPS Interactive servers.
Location Sharing Feature
The Application includes an optional Share Location feature that allows you to share your current coordinates with another user of the Application.
- Location access is never automatic. The Application only reads your device's location when you explicitly trigger the Share Location action.
- Processing is entirely on-device. Your coordinates are encrypted and encoded into a URL entirely on your device. Your location data is never transmitted to SAPPS Interactive servers, Firebase, AdMob, or any other third party.
- Location only leaves your device through your own action. The encrypted URL is delivered exclusively via your device's native share sheet (e.g. WhatsApp, SMS, email, or any other app you choose). The Service Provider has no involvement in or visibility into this transmission.
- Recipient processing. When a recipient opens the shared URL in the Application, their device decrypts and displays the encoded coordinates locally. No coordinate data is sent to any server during this process.
- The Share Location feature should not be used to share or track the location of minors.
If you do not use the Share Location feature, no location data is ever collected or processed by the Application.
Location data accessed via the optional waypoint feature is not included in the automatically collected information described above and is not transmitted off-device. See the "Location Information" section below for details.
Location Information
The Application includes an optional waypoint feature that allows you to save a single GPS location on your device and navigate back to it. When you use this feature:
- The Application requests permission to access your device's precise location.
- Your location is processed entirely on your device and stored locally using your device's secure storage. It is never transmitted to the Service Provider, our servers, or any third party.
- The saved waypoint is a single coordinate pair (latitude/longitude) that you explicitly create by tapping "Mark Current Location".
- Location access is active only while the Application is in the foreground. The Application does not perform background location tracking, and the location watcher is paused when the app is backgrounded or the screen is locked.
- You can delete the saved waypoint at any time by clearing it within the app, clearing the app's data in your device settings, or uninstalling the Application.
- You may decline or revoke location permission at any time via your device settings. The rest of the compass functionality will continue to work without it.
Local Storage
The Application stores small amounts of data locally on your device, including your saved waypoint (if any) and preferences such as whether you have seen the introductory tutorial for the waypoint feature. This data never leaves your device and is removed when you clear the Application's data or uninstall the Application.
Cookies and Tracking Technologies
The Application utilize third-party Software Development Kits (SDKs), pixels, and similar tracking technologies to support core functionality, ad delivery, and performance analytics. Where required by applicable law, the Service Provider will obtain consent before using non-essential tracking technologies.
Your Rights & Data Deletion
You have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data.
Because the Application does not require user registration, accounts, or login credentials, the Service Provider does not collect, log, or associate any data with your real-world identity, name, or email address.
Consequently, the Service Provider cannot manually look up or delete your individual device's anonymous data history upon email request. If you wish to permanently delete all local and automatically collected data associated with your use of the Application, you can do so completely and immediately by:
- Clearing the Application's cache and data storage within your mobile device's system settings.
- Uninstalling the Application from your device.
For general inquiries regarding your rights, or to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent, you may contact the Service Provider at sappsinteractive@gmail.com.
Your California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to delete personal information, the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, and the right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights. As noted above, because data is entirely anonymous and not tied to user accounts, the primary method for exercising your right to deletion is uninstalling the application and clearing device storage. For inquiries, contact the Service Provider at sappsinteractive@gmail.com.
Third-Party Access & SDKs
Please note that the Application utilizes trusted third-party services that automatically collect, process, and handle data according to their own privacy frameworks. Below are the links to the Privacy Policies of the third-party service providers utilized by this Application:
The Service Provider may also disclose automatically collected information:
- As required by law, such as to comply with a subpoena or similar legal process.
- When they believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect their rights, protect your safety or the safety of others, investigate fraud, or respond to an official government request.
Data Retention Policy
The Service Provider and its integrated processors retain data based on its technical necessity:
- Automatically Collected Data: Processed via Firebase and AdMob is retained anonymously for up to 14–24 months from collection, after which it is automatically purged by our processors.
- Location Data: Coordinate data processed via the Share Location feature is not transmitted to or retained by SAPPS Interactive. It exists transiently on-device during the share and load actions only.
- Aggregated and Anonymized Data: Used for global performance metrics may be retained indefinitely as it contains absolutely no identifiable device markers and can never be linked back to you.
- Locally Stored Waypoint Data: Retained on your device until you clear it within the app, clear the Application's data via system settings, or uninstall the Application. This data is never accessible to the Service Provider.
Children
The Application is not intended for children under 13 years of age (or such higher age as required by applicable local law). The Service Provider does not knowingly solicit data from or market to children. The Share Location feature must not be used by or to track the location of minors. If a parent or guardian becomes aware that their child has provided personal information without appropriate consent, please contact us at sappsinteractive@gmail.com so that we can verify and remove the data immediately.
Security
The Service Provider is concerned about safeguarding the confidentiality of your information. Location data shared via the Share Location feature is encrypted on-device before being encoded into a URL, ensuring that coordinate values are not transmitted or stored in plaintext. We rely on industry-standard physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards provided by our infrastructure partners (Google Play Services, Firebase) to protect the limited data processed by the application.
Data Breach Notification
If a systemic data breach occurs that affects our backend infrastructure or third-party processor pipelines, the Service Provider will notify users or relevant regulatory authorities in strict accordance with applicable legal requirements.
Changes
The Service Provider may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating this page with the new effective date.
This privacy policy is effective as of 2026-05-28
